Community guidelines

What's welcome

The Campfire is for real adventurers swapping real knowledge. The good stuff looks like:

• Trip reports, tracks and campsites, with the location care below in mind.
• Gear reviews and setups, recoveries gone right (and wrong), and how you fixed it.
• Honest questions. No such thing as a silly one when you're starting out.
• Photos and stories from out there, and a hand for someone planning their first lap.

How we treat each other

Talk to people the way you would around a real fire. Disagree all you like (about tyres, tides or the best way to cook a barra), but play the ball, not the person.

• Be respectful. No harassment, hate, threats or pile-ons. Everyone's welcome regardless of background, and bigotry isn't.
• Keep it real. Share your own experience, credit others' work, and don't pass off dodgy or dangerous advice as fact.
• Keep it legal. Nothing that encourages illegal access, poaching, protected-species harm, or damage to Country or heritage.
• One account per person. No impersonating other members, crew or the Danny Green team.

Not on here

These get content removed and can get you muted or removed from the Campfire:

• Spam, ads or self-promo dumped without being part of the community.
• Scams, dodgy buy/sell schemes, or anything designed to rip people off.
• Harassment, hate speech, threats, or sharing someone else's private details (doxxing).
• Sexual, violent or otherwise nasty content. This is a family-friendly crew.

Sharing places & privacy

Half the magic out here is that the good spots aren't on a map. Share generously, but think before you drop a pin. Some places, and some information, deserve care:

• Sensitive and sacred places. Don't post precise locations of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander sacred and culturally significant sites, fragile ecosystems, or spots that could be trashed, looted or overrun if they went public.
• Someone else's spot. A secret fishing hole, prospecting patch or free camp shared with you in confidence isn't yours to broadcast. Ask first, or keep it general (region, not coordinates).
• Private property and access. Don't share exact locations that reveal where a member lives or camps, and don't encourage access across private land or closed tracks.
• Other people's details. Never post someone's real name, address, phone, plates or photos without their say-so.
• Your own privacy. Your profile is private by default and your display name is only your first name plus a last initial. You choose what to share. Strip GPS data from photos if you'd rather not reveal exactly where you were.

How moderation works

The Campfire is lightly moderated after the fact, not gate-kept before. Your thread goes up straight away, no waiting for approval. Our crew can then hide or remove anything that breaks these guidelines, restore something taken down by mistake, and mute a member who keeps crossing the line. We aim to be fair, consistent and human about it, and serious or repeated breaches can mean losing Campfire access.

Reporting something

See something off? Every post and comment has a Report action. Tell us briefly what's wrong and it lands straight in the moderators' inbox. Reports are private, and you can't report your own content. We'll review it and act. You can also block or mute a member so you stop seeing their posts.

If someone's in immediate danger, don't wait on a report: call 000.
